Discharge and Sediment Transport Modeling before and after the Construction of a Dam at the Inlet of a Basin

The purpose of this study is the simulation runoff and sediment transport in basin Nestos River, Northern Greece, downstream Platanovrisi dam, whose construction was completed 1997. predominantly forested its area 884 km2. model used for AnnAGNPS, which based on Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE), combined with a GIS interface. AnnAGNPS requires daily rainfall climatic data should be calibrated validated before use. calibration to obtain values K factor, difference between simulated measured discharge yield year 1980 minimum. comparing 1981, using factor obtained from calibration. Two different simulations were conducted, one years 1980–1990 another period 2006–2030, after respectively. For 1980–1990, existing meteorological available basis employed, results good agreement those study. 2006–2030 generated software packages GLIMCLIM ClimGen. mean by 5% lower annual 20% than corresponding 1980–1990.
